So you have a great job, good income, a cool apartment, school loans, credit card debt and a date with that new accountant on Friday night. All is going well, except you cannot seem to organize your personal finances.
Your monthly Budget consists of paying your credit card balance with whatever is left over at the end of the month. You are a whiz at your job, but finances seem too confusing.
Who should you call? You do not need someone who will discuss buying growth versus value stocks, an index fund or ETF, corporate or international bonds – you just want to balance your checkbook, contribute to your 401(k), and figure out what the heck is a Roth IRA. Would also be nice to get some expert advice on the best way to organize your school loans, credit cards, car loans and that 5-year-old loan from your parents.
Finally, you do not want reams of charts explaining what is more important, saving for your kids’ college or your own retirement? Who can explain all this in plain English?
If you hire a Financial Analyst, Financial Advisor, Investment Advisor or a Dave Ramsey Certified Advisor, be prepared to pay between $200 – $300 per hour and expect to be required to sign a contract for monthly visits the first year. So basically, a two-hour session once a month will cost you about $7,200 per year. That is about 3 times your rent!
Here is a trick – call their office and ask for their rates. It is like joining a gym, you must come in for a tour and a sit-down before they shock you with their contract.
A here is some inside information – these “experts” simply have you fill out a ton of financial forms, then have their Intern put it into their software program. It is all formulas and algorithms to them.
When you meet again, they will put pie charts, balance sheets and asset classes up on a screen and give you detailed financial advice (created by the software) that: (1) you do not understand, and (2)is advice to advanced for your needs.
Here is a better idea, contact Capital Budget Strategies, LLC, Austin’s best Financial Coach. For only a $149 flat fee, you will have 4-hour, one-on-one Zoom Conference Call with a real Money Coach who will train, educate and motivate you to simply your finances, teach you about “wants versus needs,” help you determine your Net Worth, set up an Emergency and Survival Fund and show you the power of online banking. We will even set up a Snowball Debt Repayment Plan if needed.
The $149 pays for the first session and includes a follow-up session at the 1, 3, or 6-month mark to check in.
The Financial Coach at Capital Budget Strategies, LLC, does not believe it should cost you a lot of money to learn how to handle your money. It should not take 12 sessions to explain banking, saving and spending basics. Our Money Coach will train you in 4 hours how to get organized, set up automatic transfers and payments and save for future expense. Oh yea, and we will help you pay off all that debt.
When you make your second million, contact the much more expensive financial team and their updated software – but for now, you just need a friendly, honest, patient and experienced Austin Financial Coach to help you understand the basics of finances. It is really not that hard, I promise you.
We can set up your session during the week, in the evening and even on weekends. And with Zoom, you can sit right in your kitchen or office. If you share financial responsibilities with anyone, it would be great if they attended as well.
